Jet is not like any other cat 。 。 。 but when other animals try to convince her that she's really a bird or a frog or a goat, she learns to embrace her unique identity。 This hilarious story teaches us to celebrate our differences。
I LOVE THIS BOOK。 This is a subtle take on identity and expectations, done with great art and humor

A fresh, humorous approach to discouraging pigeon-holing people。 Rather, it's important to appreciate who we are as individuals and celebrate our differences。Jet the Cat does everything that cats enjoy doing, including swimming - until he is told that he can't be a cat and like swimming, that he must be a frog who tells him he must be a bird, who tells him he must be a goat, who tells him。。。 Until finally, she decides to be herself as is and the other animals expose their differences, too。Crede A fresh, humorous approach to discouraging pigeon-holing people。 Rather, it's important to appreciate who we are as individuals and celebrate our differences。Jet the Cat does everything that cats enjoy doing, including swimming - until he is told that he can't be a cat and like swimming, that he must be a frog who tells him he must be a bird, who tells him he must be a goat, who tells him。。。 Until finally, she decides to be herself as is and the other animals expose their differences, too。Crede has infuse this tale with a tongue-in-cheek approach。 The structure of the story is strict -until it is broken by Jet, who starts her own pattern of self-declaration。 Terry Runyan's colorful digital artwork walks hand-in-hand with the text, extending it further in places than either thought possible。 There is a lightness about both that makes this a great conversation starter with younger children。 It could also be used as a template for a writing lesson。Highly Recommended for PreSchool-grade 2。 。。。more
Deidre,
I bought this book for my five-year-old grandson and it did not disappoint! He loved the idea that Jet the Cat may not be a cat。 But of course, Jet is a cat—she’s just different! She loves to swim and do all kinds of non-cat stuff。 The colorful illustrations by Terry Runyan are beautiful and will have kids searching for animals throughout。 This is a READ-IT-AGAIN book!

See my full review here: https://www。yabookscentral。com/kidsfi。。。JET THE CAT (IS NOT A CAT) is a charming picture book about a cat who does not quite fit the label。 Jet loves to pounce, sprawl, and swim, just like all cats - or so she thinks until another cat tells her that cats do not like to swim, and therefore, she must be a frog。 Jet accepts this and lists all the ways she is like all frogs, except that the new label doesn't quite fit either。 The book continues with Jet not being like the ot See my full review here: https://www。yabookscentral。com/kidsfi。。。JET THE CAT (IS NOT A CAT) is a charming picture book about a cat who does not quite fit the label。 Jet loves to pounce, sprawl, and swim, just like all cats - or so she thinks until another cat tells her that cats do not like to swim, and therefore, she must be a frog。 Jet accepts this and lists all the ways she is like all frogs, except that the new label doesn't quite fit either。 The book continues with Jet not being like the other animals until she finally decides she has had enough and will just be herself - a cat unlike other cats。What I loved: This is ultimately a book about self-assuredness and embracing your differences。 Jet is like all other cats in some ways, but different in others, and all of them are to be celebrated by the end of the book。 The book tackles this topic with a lot of humor that is sure to make young readers giggle。 There are definitely some animal facts that they will pick up on quickly as being incorrect, particularly the inability to fly, like all birds (or not)。 Brightly colored illustrations with lots of expressive animals and fun background details add to the charm and good-natured humor of this picture book。The book is easy to read and understand, and I appreciated the clear, bold font that makes it a good pick for a bedtime book。 The themes, illustrations, and humor make this a win for toddlers through elementary school aged readers。Final verdict: With fantastic artwork and a silly story with a great lesson, JET THE CAT (IS NOT A CAT) is a picture book about self-acceptance and embracing our differences。Please note that I received a review copy。 All opinions are my own。 。。。more

This is a humorous book about a a cat called Jet trying to find his true identity。 He becomes confused because he likes to swim which most cats can't do。 He starts to think he's a frog but frog tells him he's not a frog because he sings like a bird。 The story continues with Jet thinking he might be lots of other animals before realising he is actually a cat and a 'great cat'。 A lovely story that teaches children it is good to be different and that they should be proud of their individuality。 The This is a humorous book about a a cat called Jet trying to find his true identity。 He becomes confused because he likes to swim which most cats can't do。 He starts to think he's a frog but frog tells him he's not a frog because he sings like a bird。 The story continues with Jet thinking he might be lots of other animals before realising he is actually a cat and a 'great cat'。 A lovely story that teaches children it is good to be different and that they should be proud of their individuality。 There are brilliant vibrant illustrations throughout the story which young children will love。 I would definitely read this in school to encourage children to look for their own special talents and learn to apprectiate other people's。 Thank you to Edelweiss for this ARC。 。。。more

JET THE CAT (IS NOT A CAT) is full of humor and heart。 What a resilient and wise cat (or frog or bird or goat?) The message of celebrating our individuality is uplifting without feeling the least bit didactic。 With clever and playful writing and beautiful, bright illustrations, Jet the Cat will have you smiling as you read it (over and over again!)

Thank you to #Edelweiss for the digital copy for an honest review。I am giving this book 3。5 stars leaning to 4。 The story centers on Jet who is a cat that likes to do many things (that are cat things) with one exception - he likes to swim。 Since cats do not like water or swimming the animals around the pond decide Jet must be a frog。 So Jet continues on with sharing what he/she likes to do including singing high。 (which a frog sings low) Thus the story continues to take the things Jet likes to d Thank you to #Edelweiss for the digital copy for an honest review。I am giving this book 3。5 stars leaning to 4。 The story centers on Jet who is a cat that likes to do many things (that are cat things) with one exception - he likes to swim。 Since cats do not like water or swimming the animals around the pond decide Jet must be a frog。 So Jet continues on with sharing what he/she likes to do including singing high。 (which a frog sings low) Thus the story continues to take the things Jet likes to do and associate with other animals, bird, goat, etc。 Finally Jet gets fed up with the chaos and goes back to the pond for a swim。 Feeling better Jet declares to all that she/he is a cat and likes to do things that other animals do, and that is okay。 The author gives us a little surprise at the end。 Celebrating differences is always a good theme to model and for very young readers/children this book is perfect。 。。。more

Jet the Cat is my new favorite cat! Or not。。。 This story is such a delight to read! It's funny, charming, and a bit witty with a hint of sarcasm thrown in。 I can see it being a "please read it again" book, in the daytime reading circle or at the bedside at night。 Even as kids begin to notice their similarities and differences from other kids, this is a great way to talk about what makes us all who we are: unique! Jet the Cat is just like other cats, that is until you look at all the other traits that make her uniquely her。 She is told she is something else, so she thinks she is something else and tries to fit in, but of course, she can’t! She stands up for herself and in the process makes everyone else think about what makes them unique and different to others。A beautifully illustrated book looking at identity and individuality in a positive and light-hearted way for children。Thank you Edelweiss+ for the Jet the Cat is just like other cats, that is until you look at all the other traits that make her uniquely her。 She is told she is something else, so she thinks she is something else and tries to fit in, but of course, she can’t!
